Modeling of Rheological Object with Square or Cubic Finite Element

چکیده
Rheological object, such as various food products and biological tissues, has both elastic and plastic properties. Modeling of rheological object has not been studied frequently comparing with the modeling of elastic one. Our previously developed FE models of rheological objects were based on triangular or tetrahedra finite elements. In this paper, the FE model of rheological object formulated with square (2D) or cubic (3D) finite elements were presented. At first, the 2D FE model with square elements was formulated and was then extended to 3D case with cubic elements. The developed FE models were then utilized to simulate regular shaped objects and computation cost and simulation results were compared with the results from triangularor tetrahedrabased models. We found that the FE model with square or cubic elements works as well as the model based on triangular or tetrahedra elements but can save computation cost with a speed-up ratio of about 30% in 2D or 50% in 3D cases.

Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Bending of Straight Beams Using hp-Spectral Approximations
Displacement finite element models of various beam theories have been developed using traditional finite element interpolations (i.e., Hermite cubic or equi-spaced Lagrange functions). Various finite element models of beams differ from each other in the choice of the interpolation functions used for the transverse deflection w, total rotation φ and/or shear strain γxz, or in the integral form u...

Displacement finite element models of various beam theories have been developed traditionally using conventional finite element basis functions (i.e., cubic Hermite, equi-spaced Lagrange interpolation functions, or spectral/hp Legendre functions). Various finite element models of beams differ from each other in the choice of the interpolation functions used for the transverse deflection w, tota...

Identification of physical parameters for soft objects is important for surgical simulation, human modeling, and food engineering. In this paper, we propose an approach to estimate the physical parameters of uniform rheological deformation based on 2D/3D finite element (FE) model simulation. At first, the FE dynamic model was described and simulations were done with initial parameters. Then, th...

Nowadays, one of the main problems encountered in minimally invasive surgery and telesurgery is the detection of arteries in tissue. In this study, for the first time, tactile detection of an artery in tissue and distinguishing it from the tumor has been modeled by finite element method. In this modeling, three 2D models of tissue have been created: tissue, tissue including a tumor, and tissue ...
